The Debate Is On.

I've really been trying to stay away from this topic for the past 48 hours or so but sometimes you just have to go head on about things.

4th and 2.

Those words will haunt Belichick for a while.

They shouldn't.

I'm going to try and be as non-bias as I can about this but it was the right call. Don't tell me Belichick was arrogant. That he was just being cocky and thought he had the win in the bag.

He did what any half-decent coach would do: Put the game in Brady's hands. Unless you're the '85 Bears, you're always going to depend on Brady to give you the W ahead of the defense. Any defense. For 45 minutes, the Patriots D played as solid as it has in a while. Then the defense suddenly remembered that it was the nursing home that it is and got tired.

Tired D + Peyton Manning = TDs. And in this case it also equals a win.

If the Pats were to punt the ball, there was a good chance that Peyton would rally the Colts down the field and get the touchdown they needed. Just ask Miami. He doesn't need much time to score a touchdown.

However, Peyton can't score TDs if he's on the sideline. Belichick knew this. The Pats have rolled the dice on 4th down a few times this season and have been successful for the most part.

Why not go for it again? Make it, and the Colts are no longer undefeated.

Belichick shouldn't even be getting the blame for the lose.

Officiating was really sketch throughout the whole game.

The refs shouldn't get the blame either.

Blame Lawrence Maroney. If he doesn't fumble on the goal line, and the Colts recover for a touchback, this debate wouldn't even be happening. The talk of the town would be the Patriots closing in on 2007 form, (I perfer 2001, or 2003, or 2004. But that's just me). Maroney cost the Patriots the game. No doubt in my mind. He fails.
