Time to start off, with an apology. So there has been some backlash concerning our guest writer a few posts back. It is difficult to fathom the hate I've been getting. And it wasn't even about Reggie, it was about how I apparently bashed him. The people actually responded positively to him. People felt I might have been a bit too harsh with some of my comments and I listened. My comments regarding Dirk Nowitzki were unnecessary and uncalled for. Saying that Doucet raps better than he writes was just wrong of me. His rapping and writing is on the same level. Those "Editor's Notes" throughout the post were...Who am I kidding? Those were funny. Did I go over the line? Possibly. But you have to admit, it incites a few chuckles in people. I'm pretty sure I covered all the bases with that.
It's safe to say that the whole "Summer of Favre" soap opera annoyed the crap out of America last year. Well apparently someone signed Brett Favre to do a sequel of the "Summer of Favre". We're doomed to relive this whole thing again. It's not so bad this year. The sequel of "Summer of Favre" is one of the few exceptions where the sequel is better than the original, like Spider-Man 2. This year there's the revenge factor. (Insert evil revenge music here.)
Seriously, Brett Favre must have a serious vendetta against Green Bay. You would think that a Super Bowl Champion would have tougher skin than this. Brett, come one, you left the Packers out to dry last year. You more than anyone should know that the quarterback position is the most vital position in sports, let alone football. Winners in the National Football League have stability under center. Without a quarterback, you're going nowhere. Look at San Francisco. Alex Smith wasn't the answer and it set back the franchise a few years. Right across the Bay in Oakland, they haven't had a decent soul leading the offense since Rich Gannon. The Raiders can only hope to become a .500 team by 2020 at this point. Then you have your Steelers. Big Ben might not be the most prolific quarterback out there. He's nowhere from being the smartest guy out there. He's certainly not flashy, but he gets the job done. You can count on him. 2 rings. Brett, understand that the NFL is a business. If you weren't going to be reliable to the organization and surround the team with question marks, there was no point to keep you around. And plus, it was about time they put Rodgers in. The world saw that he could play.
And the whole revenge factor. Not to say that it's going to make the Brett Favre sage interest, because it is, but it is also childish. Let things go. The NFC North is full of childish quarterbacks: Jay Cutler acted as childish as Brett did before being traded to Chicago, Matt Stafford is a rookie, making him a child in NFL years, and Sage Rosenfels has the quarterbacking ability of a young child. Well, at least Brett would fit right in back in the NFC North.
This is a way to end the post for today. Is it bad that I can't stop watching this? Rick Ankiel goes hard. At least he didn't suffer any serious injury.
