The Debate Is On.

I've really been trying to stay away from this topic for the past 48 hours or so but sometimes you just have to go head on about things.

4th and 2.

Those words will haunt Belichick for a while.

They shouldn't.

I'm going to try and be as non-bias as I can about this but it was the right call. Don't tell me Belichick was arrogant. That he was just being cocky and thought he had the win in the bag.

He did what any half-decent coach would do: Put the game in Brady's hands. Unless you're the '85 Bears, you're always going to depend on Brady to give you the W ahead of the defense. Any defense. For 45 minutes, the Patriots D played as solid as it has in a while. Then the defense suddenly remembered that it was the nursing home that it is and got tired.

Tired D + Peyton Manning = TDs. And in this case it also equals a win.

If the Pats were to punt the ball, there was a good chance that Peyton would rally the Colts down the field and get the touchdown they needed. Just ask Miami. He doesn't need much time to score a touchdown.

However, Peyton can't score TDs if he's on the sideline. Belichick knew this. The Pats have rolled the dice on 4th down a few times this season and have been successful for the most part.

Why not go for it again? Make it, and the Colts are no longer undefeated.

Belichick shouldn't even be getting the blame for the lose.

Officiating was really sketch throughout the whole game.

The refs shouldn't get the blame either.

Blame Lawrence Maroney. If he doesn't fumble on the goal line, and the Colts recover for a touchback, this debate wouldn't even be happening. The talk of the town would be the Patriots closing in on 2007 form, (I perfer 2001, or 2003, or 2004. But that's just me). Maroney cost the Patriots the game. No doubt in my mind. He fails.

The First Quarter Is Over.

With the first four weeks of the NFL season over, we can get a clear idea of which teams are at the top of the class and which ones really need to go to the UFL. You know, that one league with the four teams? The league where Vick really should have gone to jumpstart his football career instead of playing back up to McNabb AND Kevin Kolb.

A tiny sidebar. Let's get real here. The Wild[Dog] offense isn't gonna work in Philly. Although Vick may be the perfect player to do this, Andy Reid isn't the perfect coach to make the plays for it. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg isn't gonna do much either. In case you forgot, he coached the Lions. His record as Lions' head coach: 5-27. 'Nuff said.

Alright, so back to the top. Here are what Tha Sports Corna Top 5 looks like:

5. Minnesota Vikings
Brett Farve just won't leave. He showed everyone on that he can still perform, even on the big stage. And for people saying that they're sick and tired of Farve. That's BS. We all know it. As much as we hate to admit it, we damn love the drama this guy brings. The Brett Farve Show is the male version of Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, and the entire Oxygen network combined. The Packers/Vikings game was ESPN's most watched broadcast. We can't get enough Farve. It's true. It's true. And the Vikings defense was out for blood. They damn near killed Rodgers. Jared Allen was...well...I have no words to describe his play on Monday Night. All I can say about him is that he just took the title of best defensive lineman away from Dwight Freeney.

Courtesy of MVN.com
4. Indianapolis Colts
The elder Manning brother had doubters heading into the season, saying that he was in the decline. Not true. His ability to manage the game has allowed him stay at the top of his game. No one can argue against Manning being one of the smartest players on the field. He reads an offense like he's reading The Cat in the Hat. Their defense is their achilles heel. The Colts proved that they could win a Super Bowl with offense rather than defense but this is ridiculous. Their defense is something you'd expect from the Chiefs. If they want to add a 2nd ring to their collection, they have to tighten their play up.

Courtesy of ESPN.com
3. New Orleans Saints
We all knew that the Saints were going to be a great team. Not many though, thought that they would be undefeated going into Week 5. New Orleans have the best offense in the NFL, although Brees hasn't been in top form in the last two games. In the past two games, he hasn't thrown a touchdown. Since Pierre Thomas has returned, the running game has been revitalized, a breath of fresh air. The only question mark is the defense. They have been allowing way too many passing yards. The run defense has been solid though.

Courtesy of ESPN.com
2. New York Giants
The only reason the Giants are ranked higher than the Saints is because of their defense. They have been allowing about 100 yards less passing. Look at the two offenses, and statistically they are mirror images. The game between the two teams next week will easily The Game of the Week, if not the season, despite Eli's injury. That's where it all lies right now. Manning. Looking at the injury reports, there is little Eli can do but to suck up the pain. It's an injury that's easily going to affect him for the rest of the season. Facing the Raiders this Sunday, they can afford to give him a bit of rest. It's the Raiders.

Courtesy of ESPN.com

1. Denver Broncos
That's not a typo. The Denver Broncos. A team that was a laughing stock last year. A team that fired Mike Shanahan. The Mike Shanahan that worked with one of the best quarterbacks the world will ever see. And then, replaced the future hall of famer with a rookie 33-year old coach. And not only that, but they ended up trading their "quarterback of the future" for Kyle Orton. Everyone thought that they were going to repeat their 6-10 performance at the best. We all were wrong. The Orange Crush is back! 4 games and they only allowed 26 points. Orton has yet to throw a pick, and everyone is forgetting Shanahan's name. Despite not playing top-nouch competition (Cincy, Believeland, The corpse of Al Davis, and America's Joke), the record speaks for itself. Denver has been playing great all-around.

If gonna rank the top 5 teams, might as well rank the bottom 5 teams.

T-32. Kansas City, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis, Carolina Panthers
Yeah, The Lions aren't in the bottom 5. They have a glimpse of promise, which is not saying much.

Back to these "teams". I only need two words to analyze them. Just two words.

THEY SUCK.

Alright, just a bit more detail.

It hurts to watch these "teams". Do I need to bring up the Panthers vs. Cowboys Monday Night game? Don't make me. I don't want to relive that. It pains me to even think about thinking about it. These teams have no hope. They are what I call the anti-Obama.
(Disclaimer: This is not a reference to George W. Bush and his administration, a presidency that was believed by some to be the worst ever. It is a reference to President Obama's hope. These teams have none, hence anti-Obama.)
I will honestly be surprised if these teams combined reach 10 wins. Until the culture changes, the suckiness is here to stay.

You Guys Need To Chill

So by now everyone knows that the Lions beat the Redskins, ending Detroit's 19-game losing streak. So the Redskins fans of the world are crying
their eyes out, ashamed they follow what people now consider "The Worst Team in the NFL".

Alright 'Skins fans, let's get something straight: losing to the Lions doesn't really mean much, regardless if you won, you still kinda suck. The team was a field goal away from being 0-3.

C'mon, let's be real here. The wide receivers have been fairly inconsistent. Don't give me none of that "Santana Moss crushed Detroit and had 178 receiving yards" crap. I didn't say they can't have their moments, I'm just saying they aren't the most reliable group of guys. Just be thankful they aren't at Ted Ginn, Jr. level.

Portis hasn't been getting the job done either. In three games, the most he rushed for in a single game was 79 yards. Against the Rams. Let's be honest, their D is weak. Without going on ESPN or whatever, not many people could name a single dude from the defense. I struggled to remember Chris Long. That's not gonna cut it.
And the Lions basically shut down Portis in that game. 42 yards on the ground. Really?

Your defense has 4 sacks and 1 pick. Washington faced Jake Delhomme Version 2 in Marc Bulger and a overrated rookie QB. Both teams with weak offensive lines.

No.

By the way, firing Jim Zorn wouldn't solve the problem. The team has made many coaching changes through the years recently, it hasn't done much to help the team's success. Don't blame Zorn too much. And plus, at the pro level, the job of a coach is sometimes overrated. At this point, it's mostly a player issue.

Only Jason Campbell has been resembling anything of success on the team. With a better receiving core, he'd probably have more touchdowns. His only mistake is that he holds on to the ball too long. Of the two 'Skins games I've seen, the O-lines gives Campbell a decent amount of time to throw. If receivers aren't open, he has to be more proactive.

The Lions are a better team than people are giving them credit. They aren't a good team. Not by a long shot, but they've improved. Although the changes in the coaching staff or personnel probably haven't done much of a difference, except firing Matt Millen, the Lions have something to prove: Not to be the league's laughing stock. After an offseason to let things sink in, they realize the shame and despair that goes with being winless.

Detroit doesn't have much to look forward to. Financial problems have decimated their hope. The citizens of Detroit have nothing to look forward to. Let them have this win. They need it.

Back from Hiatus

I'd like to take this time to apologize to our four and a half regular readers of the blog for not keeping up with it and well, to be honest, being lazy with it. I promise to be more consistent with Tha Sports Corna, starting now.

I'd also like to announce the launching of a Sports Corna Twitter Account. Here at Tha Sports Corna, we adapt to all forms of communications and websites on the interwebs. We also have a new email account thasportscorna@gmail.com Feel free to tweet and/or email us with any comments and questions. Who knows, enough questions and what not and we'll have to jock Bill Simmons' idea and have our own Mailbag.

With that out of the way...ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages. I just have one question. Are you ready? Internet, I said, ARE YOU REEEEAAAADDDDY?!?!?!?!?!

Let's start the re-launching of Tha Sports Corna with last night's Monday Night Football. Colts vs. Dolphins. Land Shark Stadium.

Let's be honest here, both teams' defenses were not impressive at all. Not only did Miami show-off the now legendary Wildcat offense, but the Colts had no idea how to even think about stopping it, let alone a standard run formation. At the same time, the Miami defense were just mere obstacles the Colts had to hop over to get touchdowns. First play of the game: Colts score on a 80 yard pass to Dallas Clark. The Colts didn't need to have the ball for an extended time, because they just needed a few plays tops to score.

The Dolphins' offense was close to perfect last night. Then Miami reminded us who they had behind center: Chad Pennington.

Pennington isn't a horrible quarterback. He's one of the most accurate passers in the league. Problem is that his accuracy doesn't extend beyond 30 yards. Not to pile on Chad but he doesn't exactly possess leadership qualities. And in the off-chance that he does; he doesn't exactly make them public, now does he?

The Dolphins didn't choke or anything. They played a great game for all 60 minutes. Sure they could have squeezed more time out of the clock in their last scoring drive, and sure they had some minor time management issues in the last drive of the game, but that's because Indy had Miami right were they wanted them. No one could have seriously though Chad Pennington could have engineered a game winning drive. It's just not in him. As great as the Dolphins' run scheme was, it's close to impossible to win a football game if you're dependent on the running game if you're down to one possession. You need some sort of reliable passing game in a two minute drill.

I don't blame Ted Ginn Jr. for the loss (although it was his ball to catch, I mean he did have BOTH hands on the ball).

The thing with Miami's offensive scheme is that it doesn't match up. You have a speed receiver in Ginn. He can spread out a defense with his God-given agility. The thing is, you can't do that when your quarterback doesn't have the arm strength to throw a ball beyond 10 yards. Greg Carmarillo isn't gonna cut it either. TE Anthony Fasano is a nice option. He did have a decent breakout year in 2008. But there are still some question marks about him.

That being said. The Colts aren't completely washed-up. Miami is a draft away from contending in the AFC. And oh yeah, Plax is in jail.

THIS BLOG AIN'T DEAD, BITCHES.

Ok, less talk football, K? K.

Where the fuck did the Broncos D come from? Amirite? Odom has 7 sacks so far this year and a strong pass rush only makes the legendary secondary's job that much easier.

Where the fuck did the 49ers come from? Ok, we knew Gore was a stud, but who thought that they'd be able to win games?

As of now, the best players in each position (as far as I'm concerned) are

QB - Drew Brees
RB - Chris Johnson (AP fumbles, CJ amazes)
WR - Andre Johnson (arguable, I know. But Andre doesn't have the QB that Colston or Fitzgerald have)
TE - Tony Gonzalez
CB - Charles Woodson
LB - Ray Lewis
DL - Antwan Odom

Team Defense - Jets
Team Offense - Saints

SCREW YOU JUAN ITS FOOTBALL TIMEEEEE

My key players to watch this season are Miles Austin and Chris Henry. Two recievers that are highly slept on in a league that skeets itself over any running back that looks promising. I mean, I know Palmer's quite biased but he started calling Henry "Little Randy Moss".. That is a very bold statement, but if he even delivers half of Palmer's promise he'll show to be a great reciever.

My idea of the biggest flop this season? Stafford, hands down. He wasn't even that great of a college QB, the lions just needed a new face to make the fans happy. Not that I disagree with the move... but in the long run, it WONT work out. They need an O line first. Just ask Carr.

A team I see on the uprise: The Chiefs will definitely be much better than they were last year, and considering that they were a good team that just lost a lot of games last season.. I'd be filled with promise if I was a fan.

Superbowl contender - The Bears. If you need me to explain that, plz leave now.

Too Much Football?

So I'm trying to see what else is happening in the sports world other than Mark Buehrle's perfect game. Which by the way, I congratulate Buehrle on. He's an underrated pitcher who's been having a great season before the perfect game today. Big props also are needed for Dewayne Wise. Buehrle owes Wise everything after saving the perfect game with the play of the year.

Anyways, I'm surfing ESPN to get my hourly fix and I see that t he NFL Draft is expanding to 3 days. Before clicking on the story, I'm thinking to myself that they're actually going to increase the amount of rounds. The draft is excruciatingly long as it is. The teams on top of the draft board know who they're going to draft. The fans know who's going to be drafted. No reason why the first round needs to be 10 minutes long. If teams want to set up a trade, they have plenty of time before the draft to talk things out. I think 7 minutes are enough to hammer out details. A 7 minute time limit per pick in the first round works out. I had half a mind to personally call up Commissioner Goodell and complain the hell out of him. I was ready to start a Facebook group, write multiple posts on Serious Intertainment and Tha Sports Corna, make trending topics on Twitter, the whole nine yards. Keep in mind, all this is going through my mind before actually clicking on the link.

Then I actually click on the link and see the story.

Excerpt from ESPN.com "Commissioner Roger Goodell notified teams Thursday that the draft will be spread over three days in 2010, running Thursday, April 22, through Saturday, April 24.

In addition, the first round will start in prime time at 7:30 p.m. ET
." The same story continues to say that the second and third rounds will be held on Friday, while the fourth through seventh rounds are for Saturday.

This isn't that bad of an idea actually. I can barely watch the entire first round, let alone the rest of the draft. Spreading the draft out like this is like having an extended bathroom break in between the different sections of the draft. This country as a whole doesn't have the best attention span. If you really expect for NFL fans to watch 2 full days on the NFL draft continuously, you have another thing coming. It's easier on the brain to watch three 3-hour chunks of the Draft than serving us two 6-8 hour servings. Ever since coming into the league, the Commish has been bring switching things up in the NFL. And it's been working. Keep up the good work.

Finally, Juan P. has come back to...Tha Sports Corna

18 days. 18 long days without a Sports Corna post. Let me explain myself first. I was in Massachusetts for 12 of those days. Sure I had internet connection up there but I had a lot of catching up to do. As much as I wanted to blog, there was little time. Second of all, I've been putting most of my resources to www.randallallday.com. A cute little project created by Doucet, Kyle, and yours truly. Peep it. And third, I still feel like I'm catching up on all the news that has happened in these past 12 days. Right when I'm caught up, or at least feel caught up, more shit keeps happening. Most eventful June EVER.

Anyways, here's just a few thoughts on recent sporting events.

The Seattle Supersonics, The OK City Thunder, whatever you want to call yourselves, they're a dumbass team. YOU PASSED UP RICKY RUBIO!?!?!?!?! As my Sports Corna counterpart, Doucet, pointed out, Rubio is the best. Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Ricky Rubio. Could you imagine that team. Well apparently neither could the Thunder.

Speaking of Rubio. The T-Wolves are also idiotic. First you don't resign McHale back as coach. Obviously the man knew what he was doing and he was beloved by the main core of the team, if you can call it a core. But then you draft another point guard in addition to Rubio. Now Rubio is gonna bitch back to Spain and you wasted/missed out on a great talent.

The Red Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 games. I like that. Despite inconsistencies from Dice-K, or more like consistently bad outtings, the Red Sox are still in first place. Once Smoltz starts to get his rust off, they're going to be that much better. Their roster is that deep that a player of Dick-K's status can be missed without major repercussions.

That's it for now.

Life With Ryan Leaf

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I use the term "mighty" extremely lightly. Ryan Leaf was mighty alright. Mighty good at throwing interceptions and mighty great at being the top bust in NFL Draft history. It takes a good amount of suck in one's system to do the things he does. Just when you think the dude couldn't top his level of infamy, he goes ahead and does it. I'm nominating Ryan Leaf into induction of the "Tyson Zone". Bill Simmons, if you're reading this, put him in the "Tyson Zone". You know you want to.

If you haven't heard yet, a warrant was issued for Leaf in Texas. He's being charged with "one count of burglary to a habitation, seven counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and one count of delivery of a simulated controlled substance".

Pretty harsh charges if you ask me.

All I'm saying is that this is a sad story. It doesn't get much worse than Leaf's situation. For the rest of his life he will be known as the guy who epically failed in the NFL. And for an equally epic blow up in the locker room. Has this guy had plenty of chances to turn his life around. Absolutely. Does he deserve another chance? Probably not. But he does need to get in his mind that life is too short to screw up just because life has dealt us a bad hand. You may lose this hand but it doesn't mean you can't come back and win the next. (Oh God, I'm using an extended metaphor about life. I promised myself I wouldn't do this in the blog.) Truth is that Leaf does get some sympathy from me. I wouldn't exactly compare myself to this guy but I have made a few mistakes in the past few weeks. Things that I regret but can't turn back now. From the aspect of making mistakes, I guess me and Mr. Leaf have a few things in common. I just refuse to get charged with burglary or even do anything that would risk me being charged with anything. Period. I want to see Leaf turn his life around.

I can't say I've been to jail or experienced anything close to Ryan Leaf's life but in the short life I've lived so far I've had times in my life where the outlook seems bleak and dark. You just gotta use that to fuel your passion and overcome the demons. For every dark moment in life, you'll have an equal or greater shinning experience or experiences.

Seeing as Vick just got released from the Falcons, I could say the same exact thing about him. Actually I will. You can re-read the above and just replace Leaf with Vick.

I wish the best of luck to Michael Vick and Ryan Leaf in the future. Just cause these guys play(ed) pro football in the NFL doesn't mean they can't screw up a few times. They're human.

I totally agree with Vick being reinstated into the NFL but that's a topic for another post.

One more thing, in order to appeal to the non-sport audience.

That's it for today. I'm done.

Meet me in Hollywood, It's going down.

So it begins tonight. The 2009 NBA Finals.

The NBA Finals, the only sport without a semi-cool name for its championship. The NFL has the Super Bowl, baseball has the World Series, Hell, hockey, the zombie sport that won't completely die when you think it should have, has the damn Stanley Cup! Are you serious! And the best the NBA could come up with is the NBA Finals? +2 to the NBA for half-assing and unoriginality. I bet they came up with the name the same way Family Guy comes up with episode ideas. I'm petitioning David Stern to come up with a new name, like the the Basketball Extravaganza Championship sponsored by EA Sports. Okay, that name sucks but you get the point. Get sponsor names in the championship, like The Rose Bowl Game presented by Citi.

What the NBA Finals does have going in its favor: the trophy. The Larry O'Brien Trophy to be exact. That right there is dope. The dude who designed the trophy is a genius. The way I see it, I'd rather have the Larry O'Brien Trophy on top of my fireplace, while I'd rather have a NFL Super Bowl ring. The NFL knows how to pimp out a ring.

And now to the actual series. The unemployment line got longer last week when then Magic won the East. The creators behind the Vitamin Water and Nike LeBron/Kobe commercials should join the thousands of Americans filling out applications at Burger King. So it's going to be Orlando/L.A. Who would have thought that. Well, not David Stern. Regardless it's going to be a good series and these teams play their cards right, it might be a great series. A memorable one.

Orlando is basically facing LeBron West, a team with a superstar and a supporting cast (and I use the word supporting lightly) that isn't exactly Pippen and Rodman. So this series shouldn't be too different from what the Magic just went through. Only differences: 1)Kobe knows what he's doing on the big stage and 2)The Magic have have to do it in front of Jack Jack Nicholson. I know, Hollywood adds extra pressure. With that said...

I'm taking Orlando for their first NBA championship. They have a better outside game than the Lakers. If Orlando starts a 3 point shootout with them, I don't know how long the Lakers would be able to last. Right now, it's a toss up on how long the series will go. Van Gundy will find a way to lose a game, and Kobe's always that x-factor. My gut feeling is Magic in 6. I won't be surprised if it goes to a Game 7. Magic win regardless.

First post as an official writer lol.

www.itsdoucet.com

Had to get that out the way.

Sports talk.

Baseball - Sucks, it isn't a sport. LA Dodgers all day cause I like their history and Detroit Tigers cause they have a dope black pitcher and I have like 2 or their hats cause its a D.

Football - Saints all day, the defense it being picked up. NFC - Saints, AFC - Texans. Chad Ochocinco isn't gonna do shit next year unless palmer can PALM the ball off the bench, ya dig? I say Chris Johnson will be leading rusher and Andre Johnson leading reciever. Brees leading passer, duh.

Soccer - Barcelona all day.

Tennis - Nadal all day. He's got swag, and is endorsed by Nike out the ass, like a black athlete.

Basketball - Shaq comes out to support the Lakers, lol. He's fucked either way. I feel kinda bad for him. Magic take it in 6, though. Screw Barack's pediction.

Feels Like A Combination of Pardon The Interuption and Around The Horn.

To quote the quirky Woody Paige, "Why do I always have to straight you guys out?"

I forgive Rhys for he knows not what he does. I know where he's coming from. I was in his shoes long, long ago, in a time called 2003. A time before Boston won championships left and right. I know how it feels to support a loser team filled with lovable losers. It's cool. Cleveland is the new Boston circa 1918-2003. Emotions are high. Rhys has never known what it feels like to support a winning team. Give it time, Rhys. You'll get there. At least he never had a curse on his team. Always hold out for the Browns, right Rhys? All you need is hope. And change. It worked out for Obama. I don't see how it won't work out for "Believeland". That's all they have left, isn't it, belief.

Doucet trying to be all cool advertising and what not. Let me go a step further. Get at that new single, "Dizzy". Hottest track for summer '09. Hands down. http://www.zshare.net/audio/604371574b125d21/
And another thing. I'm above blog disrespect. I don't partake in such shenanigans. I'm more mature than that. I won't stoop down to their level. I won't fight back against Rhys. I've been through worse.

I'm not even going to respond to Gabbie. Even though she didn't make a post that was relevant or made sense, it was still cute. Especially her little crush on Zac Effron.

Screw You Juan

It's Doucet.

I have no current beef with you, but I feel like blog disrespect is what's hot on the streets... the E-streets. Na'mean young? Earl.

Last night, LeBroom showed me that he had a little bit of talent in the 4th. Of course, he's no Dirk or Kobe but he did show a wee bit o' promise. If only his team didn't suck balls in the playoffs, ha-ha to you.

I personally enjoyed how Dwight Howard went Juggernaut in OT and demolished the puny defenders of Cleveland.

Other than that, screw the Nuggets.

http://www.itsdoucet.com/
www.twitter.com/itsdoucet
www.myspace.com/itsdoucet

And with that, I leave you.

Fuck you Juan

Alright, Juan. You have awakened the sleeping bear. This is Rhys, dammit. I will apologize later for this but I'm in a tense mood under the certain circumstances.

So I stayed up into the depths of night to watch my beloved Cavs instill hope throughout the whole game. Throughout LeBron's free throws, throughout Dwight Howard's mild domination as he fouled every big close to him but the refs neglected to call his 6th foul. I even had hope when LeBron hit the fadeaway 3 as Orlando systematically hit free throws in overtime. I even thought the last chance shot with 3 seconds left was going in. I couldn't sleep afterwards because of dissappointment and anger.

Now to Juan. I usually brush off your petty Cleveland biased remarks coming from a moderately blind Boston fan. But hey, it was just a simple request for equal representation for Reggie, Gabbie, and myself. You didn't have to throw that LeBron in a Knicks or Jets jersey. That crossed the line my friend. Hey at least KG got some bonding time with Tom Brady being injured. I really wish Boston beat Orlando, so then last night would have marked a Cleveland sweep. But I digress.

All I can hope for is for Cleveland to take care of business at home, and Howard pick up another technical so he is out when the series goes back to Orlando. Then Cavs win 7 at home again.

And readers enjoy!

YO GUEST WRITER UP IN THIS JOINT!

hello all you readers out there! im not completely convinced that there are actually any of you.. but juanton told me that his page has over 300 hits, so i guess i should believe him for now.

anywho, so im gabbie. i am the 4th (and COOLEST) member of the sports corna', and the only female member i might add. and i have fought to be accepted by my male comrades, even earning provisional manmenship!

enough about me. lets talk about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. man... those are the shit. do you like crunchy or smooth peanut butter? personally, i like smooth because its much easier to spread on the bread. i usually go for extra jelly because too much peanut butter dries out the sandwich and makes it stick to the roof of your mouth. and with a tall glass of milk... DELICIOUS! the all american sandwich.

now before i wrap this up i have to mention my hubby, zac efron. when i cuddle up under the fuzzy blanket that has his face printed on it, brush my teeth with the toothbrush that displays his figure, or write in my 3 zac notebooks, i just feel so content. one day he will kick that skeez vanessa hudgens to the curb and i will move in on my territory. until then, i guess i will just have to settle for writing in this blog.

UPDATE: juanton pacheco is a dirty rotten liar and this has only received 203 hits.... most of which were probably from him refreshing the page

I'm Back Like Blink-182

I'm holding off the steroids post for a later time. I'm still working on it. In the mean while, let me bring up one of the better bands in the past decade: blink-182. Probably the main reason why I'm holding off on the steroids post is because blink-182 is pretty much the only thing I have going for me currently. The release of their tour dates is seriously the only think keeping me sane right now. By the way, blink-182 serves as great release therapy whenever you're feeling down, especially songs off Take Your Pants Off And Jacket. Well actually every blink-182 album offers good release therapy, but that's besides the point. This really isn't the time nor place to express bitterness. It's like I'm turning into Doucet when it comes to being bitter. I guess it's not that bad.

Back to blink-182. From a talent standpoint, the facts are the facts, they kinda suck. They're so way they will ever be on the level of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, or any of the other greats in the rock world. But still, they're easily one of my favorite bands.

Why?

They speak the truth. Although simplistic, many of their songs hit home. When you're feeling blue and in the dumps, they have songs for that: Don't Tell Me That It's Over, Dammit, Adam's Song. Those songs speak to me whenever I feel like shit. In all honestly, it's easier to relate to this kind of stuff than a stairway to heaven. When you need a few laughs, they certainly have that covered: What's My Age Again?, Family Reunion, and the always awesome Blew Job. They have songs that will leave your sides aching from laughing so hard.

I grew up on blink-182. They're the first band I got into. They're were a mainstay in my young life. The trio of Mark, Tom, and Travis will always be a part of my life. I can see myself 80 years old in a wheelchair still rocking out to Peggie Sue and Anthem, Pt. 2.

Despite the hardships of life and the way life twists and turns around your high expectations, music will always be there. Blink-182 will always be there, even if they were to break up again. Summer 2009 is quickly approaching and you can certainly expect to see me at a few concerts during the upcoming rising temperature of the summer. Many things in life haven't shaped up in ways that I've planned or expected, but Summer 2009 with blink-182 is the exception. I plan and expect for this tour to be the best time of my life, hands down. Of all the things that I've lived and experienced so far, blink-182 reunited and going on tour tops every single one of them by far.

And for your listening pleasure, the return of blink-182. By the way, this song is really hitting home. Well, I guess this is growing up.

Lots of Plugs, Lots Of Music

It's good to see that Brett Favre reads my blog. How do I know this? He followed my advice. As of right now, I resend my statement that inferred Brett Favre is childish. In this moment in time, I believe Brett Favre when he said that he is staying retired. At this very second, I feel Brett Favre is the best quarterback ever. For today, Brett Favre is retired.

On to what really matters right now: new subject matter. New material has been few and far between lately. I've been really struggling to create a blog based around some current shenanigans. The entertainment world has been slacking the past few weeks. Is this a good thing? For once it's not. In a time where I was hoping that Miley Cyrus might get pregnant or Lindsay Lohan would get charged with possession of a mountain of cocaine, Kiefer Sutherland is charged for headbutting. Really? Is this the best that I can do with right now? I really need to start watching The Soup again. This is pathetic. The best I can do right now is something with Miss California. Yeah...about that...

How about music?

I was talking to Randall. Before I go any further, I told him that I was going to plug his candidacy for Prom King, and here it goes: Vote Randall for Prom King! This dude is a genuinely great dude. He has an amazing sense of humor and word on the street is that he is a wizard on the dance floor. Randall deserves to be Prom King and will destroy the competition. Since apparently Tha Sports Corna isn't on the same level yet as 38pitches.com or blogmaverick.com, I can still do this sort of plug. But yea, back to music. I was talking to Randall when he brought up a great point: Top 40 music sucks.

I looked at the top songs on iTunes. More specifically, I concentrated on the top 40. I know it's not the same as the official Top 40 but it's more up to date. Don't get me wrong, pop music is cool. I understand that such music is created and targets to appeal to as many people as possible. What I don't understand is how people's taste in music sucks. Why do people still listen to Soulja Boy? The dude has 2 songs in iTunes top 20 songs!?!? The dude has no flow. I just can't wrap my head around how Soulja Boy is ahead of better talented rappers such as T.I. or Biz Markie. Soulja Boy can't tell a story like Biz Markie can.

At first glance it might look that Green Day might be a nice change in pace with the Top 40. Wrong. Green Day has released some nice stuff in the past but their newest single "Know Your Enemy" is so overplayed in the sports world. I swear, I can't watch any sporting event without hearing "Know Your Enemy" as a transition from game to commercial, or vice-versa. The thing that annoys me the most is that the song sounds eerily similar to another Green Day song "Jesus of Suburbia" with a poppy mix fused into it. That's just wrong. Green Day reminds me of Brett Favre.

I feel that music today has hit a small lull, kind of like a weak draft class in the NFL, NBA, etc. With music recently, there isn't a particular song or artist that I can see being remember in the long term for their great ability, talent, and superstardom. That's how I judge a draft class, by the legacy the people in that draft class leave. You look at the 2009 NFL Draft Class, and overall, it is nothing special. You look at the 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers Draft Class. Legendary. Hall of Famers left and right drafted that year. I haven't seen a large amount of "Hall of Fame" songs or artists lately.

But it's always nice to have a few guilty pleasure songs.

I feel the need to have at top 5 right now. Something about music.

Send some ideas for a top 5 in a future post. I'm trying to get the readers more involved. Questions and email, like a mailbag of some sorts would also work. I'm still messing around with the blog, seeing what works, what doesn't work. Let's add more of a personal touch to the list of random topics to hit and discuss, eventually. Not like anyone would care about what goes on.

Final shots.
  • Celtics v. Magic. Game 3. Prediction: Celtics in a close one. Win by 5, if that.
  • Some how I'll bring myself to catch some Red Sox vs. Rays series. Rematch of the 2008 ALCS. Which reminds me, I need to do a steroids post. Why is it only baseball getting caught? I'll discuss that.
  • I'm in a mood for promotion. Look out for an up and coming blog: Da Info Line. By the way: Adi, you owe me for this. The well established Step Ya Blog Game Up is always a good read.
  • I'd add a personal touch for the end. Exactly one week to prom. It's going to be vicious. I'm so pumped! All white tux = official. A great date doesn't hurt either =]
